An Expanded View of Drawing

An Expanded View of Drawing – Open Exhibition

8th – 28th March 2018

The Riverfront, Kingsway, Newport NP20 1HG

“Drawing is a fundamental tool we’ve used since the beginning of time. Drawing is how we learn to self identify; it’s a skill that helps us socially adjust and appreciate our surroundings. Drawing is the way we grow emotionally and intellectually; it’s our creative, aesthetic and perceptual growth.

“By scribbling, doodling or sketching, with disorder or control, we find new ways to understand the world around us, expressing or representing, the subjective or the scientific. Through imagination and perception, we understand line, light and shadow, and their importance for human expression.” Thomas Goddard, Artist

The Arts & Education Network: South East Wales is pleased to present ‘An Expanded View of Drawing’ at The Riverfront, Newport. This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for teachers and pupils to be inspired by contemporary visual artists from the South Wales region, including those who have exhibited internationally and throughout the UK. Entry is free throughout 5th – 28th March, during The Riverfront opening hours.
